Helpful tips when moving a spa

1. Measure the spa!

With every hot tub that we've moved over the past 10 years, we've learned a few tricks. Please take a minute and fully read this page. We want you to have a positive hot tub moving experience. If you have any questions, call Luna Spa Moving.

1. Get the exact measurements.

When an item is this large, the exact measurements are extremely important.

Guessing or estimating the dimensions of a hot tub can increase the chances of a last min increase in price, cancellation of the job or having to reschedule. We aim to provide a positive spa moving experience so please take a min to navigate this page.

2. Measure the location's access

Find the shortest point, at each location.Find the narrowest point at each location.

This is the most common roadblock. All hot tubs come in different sizes and all properties have different pathways to navigate through.

Keep in mind that our spa dollies can add 7-15" to the overall height depending on the terrain that we need are facing.

If you are buying a pre-owned spa from private seller, make sure to ask the seller how the spa was brought in. Was it brought in on a spa dolly through the side of the house or through the back gate? Or was it craned over the house or lifted over a wall?

If it was brought in via dolly, find out if anything has been added that will obstruct the path (plants, statues, house remodel).

3. 120V vs 240V Disconnection & Connection

What is the difference? Simply put, if your hot tub can plug in directly into the wall, it has a 120V connection. If your hot tub needs to be wired into a breaker box, it has a 240V connection.

What's the difference between 110V/220V and 120V/240V?

It's the same thing. Voltages have gone up over the years. At one point it was 110V/220V then it went to 115V/230V and currently it is 120V/240V. 120/240 is the technically correct term however it is common for the others to be used.

We can disconnect your 220v Spa if you do not have the ability/know how. Please do not attempt to disconnected if you have not worked with breakers before. It can cause a short and cause serious injury

4. Draining a hot tub

A hot tub must be drained for transport. If the hot tub is filled, please drain it the day before or at least 4hrs prior to our arrival. Doing so will allow us to arrive and load in 30-60minutes (in most cases) and save you on cost. If we need to drain the tub, we will unfortunately need to charge for the added time.

All hot tubs come with a drain that is capped. This cap can be easily twisted off. If your cap is stuck or not accessible due to the placement/position of the tub, please let us know ahead of time so that we come prepared to drain it. Or, if you want to save money, you can always siphon the water out with a hose.

Here are the 4 easiest ways to drain a tub.

1. Use the built in draining feature. Usually the best option.
NOTE: If you do NOT want water spilled near the tub, use a hose and screw/attach it to the drain port. The connections should match.

2. If you can't find the drain or if its damaged. You can use your hose to siphon the water out.
